First of all, get the ingredients that are needed to prepare the calzone pizza.
Ingredients for crust
- Flour 500 grams
- Yeast 2 tbsp
- Sugar 2 tsp
- Salt1 tsp
- Cooking oil 2 tbsp
- Water (Luke warm)
Ingredients for filling
You can go for any filling of your choice. Even the traditional pizza topping can be used as a filling in the calzone. Here is one of the choices for you.
Barbeque filling
- Bacon 4-5 slices
- onion, chopped, 1 piece
- shredded chicken, boiled, 2 cups
- barbeque sauce 2/3 cup
- mozzarella cheese, shredded ,1 cup
- fresh cilantro, chopped, 2 tablespoons
- salt, as required
Steps to make dough
- · In a small bowl, sprinkle the yeast on the warm water, and stir to dissolve it.
- · Put the flour in a large bowl and pour the yeast dissolved water, salt, sugar and cooking oil.
- · Mix them well using your hands and bring it in the form of a dough
- · Leave it for minimum 2-3 hours in some cozy warm place until the dough gets double in size.
Steps to make filling
First of all pre-heat the oven 200-250 degree C.
- · Pour 2-3 tbsp of oil in a pan and fry bacon slices.
- · Sprinkle a pinch of salt while frying
- · Put the shredded chicken and onion into it.
- · Stir them for five minutes and pour barbeque sauce in the mixture.
- · Evenly spread the dough in a round shape.
- · Place the shredded cheese at the half side of the dough.
- · Put the mixture at the same side over the layer of cheese and sprinkle fresh cilantro on the top.
- · Pick the other end of the dough and fold it on the filled place in a form of pocket.
- · Grease the crust with oil brush and place it in the pre-heated oven for 15 minutes
